Progress or destruction?
Invisible but toxic
Its poisonous fingers crawling
But we are blind to it
Yet it grows and grows
Like the mighty oak
Relentless
Touching all our lives
Corporate greed
The monster some humans seem desperate to feed
Like a spoilt child
Stamping their feet
Wanting more
But where are the ethics? The moral compass?
Profit over human life
That is the sad reality of modern life
How much money does one person need?
Yet their addiction to perceived success
Knows no end
And who suffers
The little people
After all
You can’t bite the hand that feeds you
And what about our animals
Our plants, trees and wildlife
Which we need to survive
Yet have no qualms in putting them on the path to extinction
Polluted rivers
Contaminated land
Air no longer pure
Yet we repeat the same behaviours
And to what end?
Irreversibly damaging the health of future generations
Like a mask slipping over our faces
We are destroying the thing we need to survive
Our environment
