Festive Food For Thought
A child’s face is innocent and pure
Looking up at the Christmas tree in awe.
It’s a whole world of beauty, sparkle and glitter
Their mouths wide open as their eyes flutter.
The lights are so bright and glow so divine
A memory that’s precious - a snapshot in time.
The child just sees beauty and dancing lights
The tree brings joy brightening the dark nights.
All that child wants is to feel safe and secure
They don’t want a world that’s scary and unsure.
So when God sent down to earth his only son
He knew that there was much work to be done.
He advocates a world full of kindness and love
But evil and ill doing is not so easy to get rid of.
So maybe we adults should sit and reflect
How can we create a world based on respect
The child who looks at the Christmas tree
Maybe they help hold the future’s key.
They make no judgement on whether the tree is too crass
They don’t slot people into some sort of class.
They just look at the world through innocent eyes
Enjoy every moment, well maybe not mince pies!
The tree can be big, small, simple or elaborate
The child still looks on and sees the value in it.
So this Christmas enjoy every moment
Sit back and look for atonement
Don’t judge others whose journey is unknown
And let’s not forget all those who are alone.
